My name is Dr. Adeoye Adenekan. I am a public health practitioner, epidemiologist and
physician. Prior to joining the University of the West Indies in September of 2024 as a
lecturer in the department of public health and primary care, I had worked extensively in both
the public and private medical sectors. As a Ph.D. student in Public Health at Walden
University, United States, I completed a 3-Manuscript dissertation for the Ph.D. doctoral
thesis. Through my academic achievements as a doctoral student, I was nominated for
membership in two honour societies - Golden Key International Honor Society (2019) and
National Society of Leadership and Success (2020). My research interest includes focussing
on the scientific causes of diseases, disability, mental health issues and exploring how
different behavioural health theories can be utilized to empower people in Trinidad and
Tobago to prevent and control disease outbreaks and chronic non-communicable diseases.
