Dr. Letetia Mary Addison, Ph.D., SFHEA is a Statistician, Educator, Researcher and Applied AI Consultant whose work bridges data science, governance, and climate resilience. She currently serves as Project Officer in the University Office of Planning and as a Lecturer in Applied Statistics at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus.
Her research and professional practice integrate artificial intelligence, statistical modelling, and sustainable development, with a focus on Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Dr. Addison has led several award-winning regional initiatives, projects and consultancies, including the AI4SIDS platform (UNFCCC COP29 AI Innovation Grand Challenge Winner, 2024), the AI4COASTS Project (Marine Institute “Our Shared Ocean” Grant), and the IDB-funded Blue Carbon MRV Project.
Dr. Addison is the Deputy Chair of Advisory Board to The UWI Disaster Risk Reduction Centre (DRRC) and the Campus Principal’s Representative on the UWI AI Innovation Centre Advisory Board, supporting the development of governance frameworks for responsible AI innovation.
As the Women in Data Science (WiDS) Trinidad & Tobago Ambassador, she leads outreach and training programmes to promote gender diversity and digital inclusion in STEM. Her teaching and scholarship have been recognized through the UWI/Guardian Premium Teaching Award (2024) and her designation as a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (UK).
Conduct applied research and consultancies in artificial intelligence, statistical modelling, and sustainable development, with emphasis on climate resilience, education analytics, and AI governance.
Represent The UWI on institutional and regional advisory boards, including the AI Innovation Centre Advisory Board and DRRC, contributing to strategy development, ethics policy, and research leadership.
Design and deliver professional training and outreach programmes through WiDS Trinidad and Tobago, promoting data literacy and inclusive innovation across the Caribbean.
