Biography/Responsibilities/Duties:

Dr Katija Khan is a psychologist, clinician and academic. She is based at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad where she is a Lecturer in Psychology in the Faculty of Social Sciences. She was previously a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, coordinator of the MSc Clinical Psychology Programme and a member of the Faculty Acadmic Advising and Mentoring Committee.

Dr Khan is the President of the Caribbean Alliance of National Psychology Associations (CANPA), Commissioner on the Public Service Commission of Trinidad and Tobago, Director on the Board of Directors of the Coalition against Domestic Violence, member of the Mediation Board of Trinidad and Tobago, member of the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) Regional Mental Health Committee and Past President of the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Psychologists. Dr. Khan was appointed to the UWI COVID-19 Task Force in March 2020.

Her research interests include wellness, mental health service delivery, student mental health, disaster mental health, cross-cultural perceptions and attitudes towards suicide, psychological risk and protective factors associated with suicide, neuropsychological assessment of dementia and cross cultural psychological assessment. Her professional and outreach interests include increasing public awareness of mental health and improving access to psychological therapies and assessments across the Caribbean.
