Lt Col Junior Browne is a librarian by profession and the current Officer-in-Charge of the Faculty of Law Library, where he has worked since 1994. Lt Col Browne holds the BSc Economics and Management and the LLB (Hons) from the UWI, Cave Hill Campus. He also completed the MA Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida, Tampa Campus. In addition he has completed professional development courses at Harvard University.
Along with the management of the Law Library, he is the Director of CARILAW and the West Indian Legislation Indexing Project (WILIP). Lt Col Browne is a former President of CARALL and is a member of several other library associations including the Caribbean Association of Law Libraries (CARALL), the Ameerican Association of Law Libraries (AALL), the American Library Association (ALA) and several others. He has presented on various issues at several conferences including CARALL, the Canadian Association of Law Libraries (CALL), the British and Irish Association of Law Libraries (BIALL) and the Australian Law Libraries Association (ALLA). His areas of interest within the proffession are wide and varied abut has a particular interest in library management and education, innovation and entrepreneurship.
In addition to his work in the library profession Lt Col Browne is a member of the Barbados Defence Force Reserves where he has served for over 30 years. He has completed several courses including Negotiation and Mediation in peacekeeping, Law of Armed Conflicts Instructor and the Canadian Forces Joint Command and Staff Programme.
Lt Col Browne is and avid sports enthusiast having played rugby and the university club abd national level. He has also competed in football and cricket at the club level and currently serves on the Barbados Football Association's Club Licensing First Instance Board.
