Miss Audrey M. Saddler joined the Library at The University of the West Indies Mona, as a Librarian in the Systems Unit in March 2017. Her primary areas of focus are electronic resources, the integrated library, systems, UWIScholar and UWISpace. She also assists with the provision of Reference services and the delivery of Information Literacy programmes.


At the Mona Library, Ms. Saddler serves as the Laision Librarian for the Department of Economics and the Centre for Hotel and Tourism Management. She also serves as Hall of Residence Librarian, Rex Nettleford Hall.She is also the Mona library Laision librarian for UWIScholar.


Her experience in Library’s began in 1994 when she was employed as a Librarian/Information Officer at the Jamaica Bauxite Institute. In 1997, she joined the Library at the University of the Technology, Jamaica (UTech) where she gained extensive experience is the areas of Cataloguing and Library Information Technology. While at UTech, she served as a member of the Library’s core evaluation team for the acquisition of an Integrated Library System (Unicorn now Symphony - a SirsiDynix product) and successfully led the implementation phase as Project lead. She also led the Library's Retroconversion project which resulted in bibliographic records of all library materials being captured on OCLC Connexion Client and added to the librray system. She also coordinated the barcoding exercise of library materials.


Ms. Saddler working along with colleagues from the School of Infmation Techlogy, UTech coordinated a pilot project which saw the deployment of RFID technology at the Calvin McKian Library, UTech. This included the installation of 3M security Gates, Book Check machines along with sensitizers/desentizers, and the conversion from barcodes to RFID tags. At the end of the project a propsal preapred by Ms. Saddler informed the full deployment of RFID technology across the libraries at UTech. 


In 2006, Ms.Saddler was transferred to the central Information Technology Department at UTech. She was charged with the administration of the Library system, managing licence agreements, upgrades and general operations of the ILS. She also provided support to other applications within the University such as the Integrated Student Administration System, serving as the Units laision to the College of Health Sciences and the Joint Colleges. She also provided support to the Check Printing system.


Ms Saddler received her graduate and undergraduate training from The University of the West, Mona where she pursued the Masters of Science in Computer Based Management Information Systems, the Masters in Library Studies and the Bachelor of Arts degrees.


She has a passion for libraries and her areas of interest are Library Information Technology and Cataloguing. She has attended numerous conferences/workshops over the years and has presented papers both local and overseas.


Ms.Saddler has been emplyed as an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Library and Information Studies, since 2013 where she lectyrers at the graduate and undergraduate level.
