Biography/Responsibilities/Duties:

I am a Curriculum Specialist with professional training in Literacy. Prior to a 14-month stint in higher education administration, I taught both graduate and undergraduate academic writing courses to science, social sciences and humanities majors. I have also lectured face to face, hybrid and online graduate literacy courses to prospective teachers and practicing primary and secondary teachers seeking to be liscensed as Literacy Specialists in the state of Minnesota, USA. In the last five years my academic function has been primarily developing, co-developing new or revamping existing academic programmes across levels, disciplines and campuses at the University of the West Indies. Between 2016 and 2022 I worked as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Language and Linguistice departments. In this capacity I taught, advised students, coordinated academic writing foundation course for medical science and science majors for a summer, designed and taught graduate Technical Writing and Professional editing courses for online and hybrid delivery. As Chair of the Curriculum committee in the Faculty of Sport, in addition to building relevant and innovative curricula, I provide oversight for maintaining internal and external quality standards for academic programme development. In recent years I have facilitated global education through sport by leading the successful execution of multi-layered practicum-based experiential immersions from international university partnerships. Troughout my 18 year academic career in the USA and Caribbean, I have generated publications on topics including; Technology instruction and integration, Critical thinking across the curriculum, Infusing multicultural literature in Field-based teacher preparation, Sport events as sites for teaching and research, physical literacy, climate mainstreaming in sport, graduate student technical writing transfer and Critical reflection and technology as tools for writing pivot.

My current projects are:

Co-writing a global capacity building training aimed at reducing levels of physical inactivity in developing countries,

Co-authoring a book chapter that chronicles the outcome of a cross campus collaboration leading to designing and piloting the first multidisciplinary climate studies masters programme at the University of the West Indies.

Writing a single author presentation on Preparing Caribbean Climate Educators for the upcoming "Turning the Tide" Climate Education conference.
