Research skill transfer, Curriculum development, Sport pedagogy, Academic writing, Teaching for Critical Thinking
I am a Curriculum Development Specialist with professional training in Literacy. Prior to a 14-month stint in higher education administration, I taught both graduate and undergraduate academic writing courses to science, social sciences and humanities majors. As a former teacher educator I coordinated foundation, reading and content curricula for prospective teachers primarily in professional development school settings. More recently I have delivered online literacy instruction to graduate students seeking to teach K-12 language arts or be licensed as literacy specialists/coaches. To balance my professional and academic functions, I pursue scholarship on topics that strengthen my teaching. Among my scholarly works are: Research skills transfer, Two text analysis for promoting writing volume and depth by middle school students, teaching for critical thinking, infusing multicultural principles in urban teacher preparation, and peer tutoring in technology instruction and integration. My core responsibility is developing academic programmes for Faculty of Sport at The UWI.
