Dr. Connell is a Consultant Internist/ Hypertension Specialist, and is full time faculty at the Cave Hill Campus of The UWI. He is Deputy Dean of Internationalization & Recruitment in Faculty of Medical Sciences and chairs the Cave Hill Campus’ Health & Wellness Committee. As a Consultant Physician at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Barbados, he manages both general internal medicine inpatient care and the Resistant Hypertension clinic.
He is the inaugural Governor of the American College of Physicians Caribbean Chapter. For his outstanding public service, he was awarded the prestigious Principal’s Award for Excellence in Public Service in 2019. He has published in numerous peer review journals, and has expanded his scholarship into innovations in medical education and the use of technology in medicine.
