Khimaja Connell is a lecturer in philosophy in the Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy. She teaches PHIL1006: The Meaning of Life and Existence, PHIL1002: Ethics and Applied Ethics, PHIL2002: Theory of Knowledge, PHIL3025: Themes and Issues in Caribbean Philosophy and PHIL3006: American Philosophy.
She is also the Department's Marketing and Outreach Co-ordinator.
Khimaja’s primary area of research is creolisation within the context of Caribbean philosophy, where she examines the ontology and hermeneutics of the concept of “creolisation” in the Caribbean. Her work addresses the nuances of the Caribbean’s social and philosophical landscape, providing fresh insights into the role philosophy plays in facilitating economic and intellectual independence and advancement. A key aspect of her work is inclusivity, reflected in her consideration of diverse philosophical perspectives and methods, as well as her use of Caribbean feminist epistemology.
