Caribbean Alliance of National Psychological Associations

The Caribbean Alliance of National Psychological Associations (CANPA) is a regional organization dedicated to advancing psychology as a science and profession across the Caribbean. CANPA serves as an umbrella body for national psychological associations in the region, promoting collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and the development of psychological research and practice that addresses the unique cultural, social, and mental health needs of Caribbean populations. Key Objectives of CANPA: Promoting Psychological Research & Practice: Encouraging locally relevant research and culturally appropriate psychological interventions. Strengthening National Associations: Supporting the development and capacity-building of psychological organizations in Caribbean countries. Advocacy & Policy Influence: Engaging with policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to integrate psychology into national and regional development strategies. Education & Professional Development: Organizing training programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance the skills and knowledge of psychologists in the region. Networking & Collaboration: Facilitating connections between Caribbean psychologists, international organizations, and mental health professionals to strengthen the discipline. Major Initiative – The Caribbean Regional Conference of Psychology (CRCP) One of CANPA’s most significant activities is hosting the Caribbean Regional Conference of Psychology (CRCP) every two years. This conference brings together psychologists, researchers, educators, and policymakers from the Caribbean and beyond to discuss pressing psychological and mental health issues relevant to the region. CANPA plays a critical role in shaping the future of psychology in the Caribbean, ensuring that psychological science and practice are responsive to the needs of Caribbean communities while fostering regional and international partnerships.
